As a huge Wizard of Oz fan practically from birth, it’s no surprise that Wicked is one of my all-time favorite musicals. It was the first show that I ever obsessed over, and my love for it has only grown over the years.
When my Infographics class was challenged to create a step-by-step guide on a topic of our choosing, Glinda’s infamous philosophy on popularity immediately came to mind.
My approach was inspired by the very creative, in-universe graphics the official Wicked Instagram uses to promote the show, as they’re created for passionate fans such as myself to identify small details referencing the music, dialogue, and story.
To try and keep my infographic as on-brand as possible, I carefully studied the show’s visual branding, specifically how it is used in promotional graphics, to guide my font and color choices, as well as the overall style and tone.
