No-one asked but here are my top 5 pop culture couples

Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but I am still very much feelin’ the love here in the Blue Room.

Right before V-Day, MTV News asked my mans Aaron Tveit to list his Top 5 Pop Culture Couples.

With his turn as Christian in Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway, he claimed, “I’m a good person to judge what makes a perfect love story because I’ve gotten to play some characters that have been really wrought over their own love.”

His list included:

  • Jack and Rose (Titanic)

  • Romeo and Juliet (Romeo + Juliet)

  • Chandler and Monica (Friends)

  • Noah and Allie (The Notebook)

  • Harry and Sally (When Harry Met Sally)

As much as I love him, I'm calling him out because his list was bland and generic af. So, I decided to create my own list of pop culture couples that are actually worth shipping.

Disclaimer: I am a relentless connoisseur of fictional love stories that are highly unrealistic, so this is by no means a finite list.

#5: Han and Leia (Star Wars)

We LOVE constant bickering paired with an outstanding height difference. Forever instilled in me an affinity for powerful women and the sassy men that would do anything for them.

#4: Mike and Eleven (Stranger Things)

Pure and smol with a healthy dose of trauma. If you’ve ever seen this show, you know that they deserve each other and honestly the world, and their mutual devotion to protecting one another makes me emo. Your middle school relationship could never.

#3: Mark and Bridget (Bridget Jones’ Diary/Baby)

Do yourself a favor and get you a mans like Mark Darcy. Bridget is hot mess incarnate and he loves her anyway and everyone needs that kind of support in their life.

#2: Fiyero and Elphaba (Wicked)

A gif would not do them justice, so please enjoy this clip that is honestly just too much for me to handle. They set my little theatre nerd heart aflame and I am always ready for an in-depth analytical discourse regarding their love story. As you can see I have a lot of time on my hands.

#1: Kristoff and Anna (Frozen)

@ me if you must, but I could write a whole dissertation on why they’re the healthiest couple/representation of love in all of Disney history. Watch this if you need any convincing. I just outed myself as a Disney Adult™ and I care not.

Honorable Mentions:

Bo and Willowdean (Dumplin’)

This was a VERY close 6th place. Bo Larson is my dream man I’ll say it.

Lady and Tramp (Lady and the Tramp)

I will not explain myself they invented romance

The entire cast of Mamma Mia 1 & 2

My whole entire heart is right here.
